About The Webinar

This webinar will focus on how to manage a GDV in general practice and how to optimize outcomes. Risk factors will be briefly described so that advice can be given to owners of at risk dogs. Pathophysiology of the disease will be outlined in order for potential effects of GDV to be considered so that they can be treated appropriately. Examples include reperfusion injury, acute kidney injury and cardiac arrhythmia. Diagnostic tools will be described, including diagnostic tests that are predictive for survival and recognition of those that can be used in practice. Surgical treatment will be described including how to derogate the stomach quickly, how to recognize and treat gastric necrosis and how to perform incisional gastropexy. Post-operative care and prognosis will be discussed.
