About The Webinar

Reactive epileptic seizures (RESs) represent a reaction of the normal brain to a systemic insult or physiological stresses. RESs differ from intracranial causes of epileptic seizures, as no primary chronic brain disorder (function or structural) underlies the seizures. Extracranial causes of seizures may originate from outside the body (toxic disorders) or within the body (metabolic disorders). With most metabolic conditions, the neurological examination may be either normal or abnormal in the inter-ictal period. Animals with toxicant-induced seizures tend to lack recovery in the inert-ictal period. In both instances, if the neurological deficits are present in the inter-ictal period then they are typically bilaterally symmetrical and non-localising in terms of the anatomic diagnosis. In this webinar Dr Laurent Garosi discusses common cause of metabolic and toxicant-induced seizures, typical historical and clinical findings as well as there diagnosis and management.
