About The Webinar

Acute liver disease can be life threatening and requires rapid diagnosis and intervention. This webinar is aimed at outlining the presentation of acute liver disease and discussing how to achieve a working diagnosis in primary care practice when results from external laboratories may not be immediately available.

Using case examples, major causes of acute liver disease will be reviewed including hepatic encephalopathy, acute hepatitis, coagulopathies, ascites and biliary obstruction.

Key tests to achieve a working diagnosis will be discussed leading to options for emergency management focused on stabilizing the patient.

Further diagnostic tests to achieve a more definitive diagnosis will be presented, their risks and benefits discussed ensuring that a focus on the ultimate prognosis for the patient is maintained.

The objective of the webinar is for attendees to become more confident in making rapid, logical decisions on which tests to use, how to interpret the test results and which treatments to give their patients with acute liver disease.
