Shailen has spent the last 12 years working in Emergency and Critical Care. This has included six years at the Royal Veterinary College, London; 3 years as a primary clinician in first opinion emergency practice; and 3 years as a trainer and mentor to vets and nurses working in primary care Out-of-Hours practice.

Shailen has a particular interest in helping to progress the development of veterinary ECC in the non-referral setting and he is currently working on various projects in an independent capacity. Shailen is the sole author of a book on small animal Emergency Medicine aimed at primary care practice; he has contributed to various publications and delivered extensive CPD to both vets and nurses.
