About The Webinar

Ulcerative keratopathy is one of the most common diseases in equine ophthalmology. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are fundamental to prevent the potential devastating effects on both vision and globe retention. The initial clinical signs are similar to other ocular diseases and an accurate ocular examination and the use of simple diagnostic techniques is always necessary to accurately identify the extent and depth of corneal pathology and secondary complications. A basic knowledge of corneal anatomy and healing processes is fundamental to understanding the progression of corneal ulcerative keratopathies and the likely prognosis. The majority of necessary treatments are available to the general equine practitioner and these will be discussed in detail. More sophisticated surgical techniques are occasionally required and where they are indicated will be mentioned.
