Simple way of going through the different structures within the thorax. Given me that importance to look every detail with the right approach when looking at the radiograph

I enjoyed it and It will help with my cardiorespiratory medicine cases, and also emergency caseload.

What will I learn on this course?

Session 1

Assessing the lungs – moving beyond lung pattern recognition

  • What is the normal radiographic appearance of the lungfields?
  • What are the hallmarks of a bronchial, interstitial and alveolar lung pattern?
  • What other features can we use to better distinguish what lung pathology is present?

Session 2

The cardiovascular system – should I just do an echocardiogram?

  • The normal heart shape of different breeds
  • What happens to the cardiac shape with pathology?
  • What can changes to the pulmonary vasculature tell us about the patient’s disease?

Session 3

The invisible margins of the thorax – not overlooking non cardiopulmonary thoracic pathology

  • What structures are in the mediastinum, and what pathology is seen
  • Anatomy and pathology of the pleural space
  • Pathology of the diaphragm and thoracic wall
